PhD student in deep learning and computer vision

The Visual Sensorics and Information Processing (VSI) Lab at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Germany, invites applications for a vacant full time PhD position. The position is initially limited to a period of 2.5 years, with the option of extension conditioned on continued project funding.  Salary is according to the German E13 TV-G-U scale.

For our research project “Crossing offence supervision”, we are looking for a talented and motivated new member for our research team. At present, the project focuses on image sequence processing for extracting information on the geometrical and semantical structure of moving objects (mostly vehicles) in an urban crossing scenario. Key subject issues are motion estimation, 3D reconstruction, semantic classification.

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Master degree in computer science or a related field at university level
  • Very good knowledge in computer vision, image processing and machine learning
  • Experiences in motion estimation and tracking, 3D reconstruction and deep learning are advantageous
  • Very good programming skills in C/C++, preferably also Python
  • Experience with software libraries like OpenCV, Caffe2, Tensorflow or PyTorch
  • Proficiency in the English language on B2/C1 level (CEF)
  • EU working permit is advantageous
